“Thank you!”

Ratonhnhake’ton excitedly clutched onto the cookies the woman gave him, smiling at her.  ”Ah!  I bet I win!”  He chirped in response to her challenge, raising the cookies to his mouth, ready.

“We’ll see about that!”

                        Jack exclaimed, preparing herself as
                        she held all five cookies in her  palm.
                        Her fingers gave the cookies  a  light
                        squeeze.

“On the count of three,
 1--2–3!”
