himself with a smile. Jack’s sayings were
leaving an impression on him, and that made
him chuckle.

Ronan paused - this seemed to help make the
joke funnier, he noticed - before answering.
“Aware wolf.”
Jack tilted her head towards the side, narrowing
her eyes. Her lips parted, as if she was going
to speak but instead she jerked her body upward.
“Aware dog…Aware dog
…AWARE DOG, OH I
GET IT NOW.”
Her yelling was probably unnecessary but
at least she understood the joke now. Jack
was surprised he even told a joke, someone
like him.
